Each year, distinguished faculty from around the state are recognized by the Medical Research Foundation of Oregon for outstanding leadership and innovation in science. This year, three scientists received awards, including OHSU’s Bonnie Nagel, Ph.D., associate professor of psychiatry and behavioral neuroscience and director of Pediatric Neuropsychology in the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Dr. Nagel received the Richard T. Jones New Investigator Award, which recognizes a new investigator who shows exceptional promise early in his or her biomedical research career. Dr. Nagel’s research focuses on brain development in both healthy and at-risk adolescents with the goal of identifying vulnerability for alcohol abuse and other disorders. She shows exceptional promise for having a major impact on public health.

Other recipients of this year’s Medical Research Awards include Christopher Minson, Ph.D., from University of Oregon and Joseph Beckman, Ph.D., from Oregon State. Learn more about all the award recipients.
