The Office of the Provost and Global Health Center will be presenting the 2nd Annual Kathryn Robertson Memorial Lecture in Global Health titled, “TIA” – This is AIDS: Turning a Medical Crisis into an Opportunity for Progress. The guest speaker for this year’s lectureship is Robert T. Schooley, M.D. The lecture will start at 12 p.m. on Friday, October 19, 2012 in the OHSU Auditorium with a reception to follow at 1 p.m.
Dr. Schooley is professor of medicine, chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases, and academic vice chair of the Department of Medicine at the University of California, San Diego. During his tenure as Group Chair of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease’s AIDS Clinical Trials Group, the group expanded to include research sites in Latin America, the Caribbean, South Asia and Africa and is now the largest and most productive multinational clinical and translational research organization focusing on the pathogenesis and therapy of HIV and its complications.
