Center for Spoken Language Understanding organizes global conference

Right now, there are 1,200 speech researchers from around the world attending the largest global annual conference on spoken language processing right here in Portland. The conference, InterSpeech 2012, is being organized by OHSU’s Center for Spoken Language Understanding and the International Speech Communication Association.

“We are very excited to bring InterSpeech to Portland,” said Richard Sproat, Ph.D., chair of the conference, CSLU associate director and professor. “It is a great opportunity to highlight CSLU and the research being done there in speech and language processing.”

Esther Klabbers-Judd, Ph.D., CLSU research associate professor, and Jan van Santen, Ph.D., CSLU director, were also involved in organizing the conference.
