The Western Association of Core Directors Annual Meeting will be held at the OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital Conference Center this November 1 & 2.
This meeting provides a regional resource for individuals juggling the scientific needs of core facilities with the business requirements of managing them via a platform that is focused on content and interaction.
Meeting Details: Registration is now open. The registration fee is $100.
Attendees will be responsible for their own travel, lodging and registration expenses. Meeting social events, meals and refreshments, and facilities and materials expenses will be covered by the registration fee and contributions from external sources in order to minimize cost for attendees.
Program Theme: Today’s challenging economic environment affects scientific shared resources. Institutions facing limited funding, new regulations and cost reductions must still provide access to state-of-the-art instrumentation and promote multidisciplinary research environments. The present and future demands truly innovative solutions which break down barriers – internally, locally, regionally and nationally – and create more value within the scientific community. Meeting highlights and benefits include:
- Program Value: The WACD annual meeting will enable attendees to identify resources and experts that can be leveraged to help attendees better manage shared resource programs. It will aide in identifying local and regional strengths & capacities for developing better solutions to existing problems and smarter solutions for the future
- Keynote Speaker: Dr. Joe Gray, internationally renowned cancer & genomics expert at OHSU who is spearheading multiple initiatives to impact human health by elevating the use of core facilities.
- Networking Opportunities: The program consists of multiple opportunities to interact with regional professionals. These activities include two late afternoon “social hours,” an evening dinner, interactive sessions, and flex time.
