What about the new Conflict of Interest Disclosure System?

During Integrity Week last May, we told you about the new Conflict of Interest (CoI) Disclosure System which will streamline all CoI disclosures into one form to be completed annually, housed in Big Brain.  We were ready to roll the new system out this summer when the NIH revised their regulations regarding conflict of interest in research. These changes mean we have to update our system to accommodate the revised requirements. The planned release date for the new system will now be summer of 2012.

What should you do in the mean time?

  • Have new or revised outside activities or non-research conflicts of interest to report? The existing CoI module in Big Brain is still active and should be completed for new or revised disclosures when needed.
  • No outside activities or conflicts of interest to disclose? No special action is needed, BUT, continue to submit your Conflict of Interest in Research (CoIR) Disclosures as usual.  You will receive an email from the CoIR management system when your research disclosure is due.
