Make sure your clinical research participants are aware of the Sam Jackson closure

As we all know by now, Sam Jackson Road will be closed until after Labor Day.  Please communicate with research participants if you think that the closure will affect their ability to attend their study visits.

Avoid skipped study visits:

Unlike clinic patients, many of these study visits are not medically necessary and therefore, more likely to be skipped by research subjects due to the difficulty in accessing Marquam Hill.  We want to do everything we can to avoid deviations during this time and ensure continuity of research.

IRB approval is not needed to utilize road closure communication tools:

You do not need to get IRB approval to use the OHSU communications tools and maps, which have been created to aide in accessing Marquam Hill during this time.  Please use them to communicate with your research subjects who need to come to the hill in the next months.

Consider having research visits at an off-hill location:

For study visits that can be re-scheduled at an off-hill site, please consider a temporary change.  The IRB will expedite any change in location that may be necessary during this time.  If you can modify the location of your visits, send the change through as a modification and e-mail the managing analyst to let her know that this is a location change for the road closure.   The IRB will expedite approval.

OHSU has developed several resources to assist you during this time.

Please contact Amy Cline if you have any questions.
