Barbara Cox, PhD, takes on new role with IACUC
Many of you already know Barbara Cox, PhD, from her work on the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) over the past 15 years. This summer, she is taking the show on the road as she transitions into her new role as Scientific Liaison to the animal research community at OHSU. Barbara is bringing her expertise directly to the lab to educate you about IACUC polices and help you meet the standards for compliance. Her goal is to facilitate a collaborative relationship between animal researchers and the IACUC. We hope you will take advantage of her wealth of knowledge to get your questions answered as you work with the IACUC.
Dr. Cox’s new role is part of a greater effort to improve communications between researchers and the IACUC. Bill Dale, PhD, Research Integrity Officer for Animal Care and Use, and Phil Streeter, PhD, Chair of the IACUC, are also heading out to visit animal researchers this summer. Their goal is to present their vision of the animal use program and to get feedback from you about what you’d like to see from the program in the future.
Stay tuned for more information on this summer’s schedule. In the meantime, feel free to contact Amy Cline in the Research Integrity Office with questions, concerns or requests for a visit.
