OHSU researchers gain better understanding of pain signaling
School of Dentistry researchers in Agnieszka Balkowiec’s lab, Ewa Balkowiec-Iskra, M.D., Ph.D., and Anke Vermehren-Schmaedick, Ph.D., have discovered the molecular mechanism that causes pain when orofacial tissue is inflamed. Their research will be published later this month in Neuroscience but in the meantime is available via ScienceDirect.com. This research may lead to more effective treatment for pain due to inflammation, including migraine headaches and toothache.
