eRA Commons xTrain: Getting Started Guide

Since the launch of xTrain by the NIH in 2008, OHSU’s post-award office has offered guidance on its Training Grants and Fellowships page. With this year’s change to mandatory electronic filing via xTrain, Research Development and Administration (RDA) is offering additional support to administrators as we undergo the transition from paper to electronic filing.

The first goal in this transition assistance has been to ensure that each PI, administrator and trainee working with NIH Training Grants has his or her own Commons account. Timely processing of appointments and terminations hinges on this. The reference sheet “Getting Started: Account Set-up was developed to offer guidance for initiating and delegating xTrain accounts. It also includes links to the most up-to-date xTrain guidance from NIH.

A reference sheet for Appointments & Terminations will be posted in the next several days, to be followed by troubleshooting guidance. Meanwhile, administrators and others who need help with this may contact the RDA Education Coordinator.
