Revision to NIH guidelines exempts certain transgenic breedings

The NIH has recently revised its guidelines regarding the breeding of two different transgenic rodent strains. You can view the updated OHSU policy here.

The Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) office will be contacting those with existing IBC registrations covering transgenic crossings to terminate the registration, if appropriate. Additionally, the Electronic Institutional Animal Care & Use Committee (eIACUC) is in the process of being updated to revise the question on transgenic breeding per the revised policy.
