Nominations for School of Medicine Faculty Senate Award for Research due March 25
Nominations are due Friday, March 25, for the School of Medicine (SOM) Faculty Senate Award for Research. The purpose of this award is to recognize a faculty member for his or her excellence based upon evidence of sustained research productivity spanning a period of at least five years. The awardee must have evidence of local, national or (preferably) international recognition of excellence in research. Tangible forms of evidence may include the nominee’s publication record, research awards and grants, invited participation in scholarly symposia, patents, and testimonial letters from colleagues and other relevant groups or individuals.
Each finalist receives a $500 prize from the OHSU Foundation. The awardee receives an additional $3,000 and his or her name engraved on a memorial plaque from the OHSU Foundation. Awards will be presented at a convocation luncheon in mid-May, organized with the specific intent of honoring these chosen individuals.
Nominees must be faculty members in OHSU’s School of Medicine. Awards are made for contributions made within the last ten years. In order to reward the activities of current faculty, emeritus faculty are not eligible. If there is someone in your school or unit who you feel is deserving of this award, please send a letter of nomination and supporting documentation to Norman Cohen or Kenneth Abbey.
