OHSU researchers define cell of origin for childhood muscle cancer

Several OHSU researchers, including Charles Keller, M.D., head of the Pediatric Cancer Biology Program at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, have recently discovered the cell of origin for childhood muscle cancer–a condition that can have a survival rate as low as 20 to 40 percent. These findings may be able to improve survival rates by using non-chemotherapy drugs to convert cancerous cells into normal muscle cells.
