William K. and Carmella L. Riker Memorial Lecture: Dr. Angela Hartley Brodie, Jan. 20
OHSU’s Department of Physiology and Pharmacology and the Knight Cancer Institute are cosponsoring the 28th William K. and Carmella L. Riker Memorial Lecture.
Featured speaker will be Angela Hartley Brodie, PhD. She will be discussing “Aromatase Inhibitors and Breast Cancer – Concept to Clinic”. Dr. Brodie is a professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics at the University of Maryland. She is well known for her work in the development of aromatase inhibitors used in the treatment of breast cancer.
The event will held Thursday, January 20, 2011, at 4:00 pm in the OHSU auditorium. There will be a reception at 5:00pm in the Richard Jones Hall Atrium Lobby.
The William K. and Carmella L. Riker Memorial Lecture was established in 1981 to honor the memory of Carmela Louise Riker, the wife of Dr. William K. Riker, chair of Pharmacology at OHSU for 21 years. Through her activities in the Medical School Alliance and OHSU Volunteer Services, Mrs. Riker made important contributions to enhancing patient facilities and supporting medical students.
