Top cancer and genomics researcher, Joe Gray PhD, to join Knight Cancer Institute
OHSU has hired Joe Gray, Ph.D., a scientist who Brian Druker, M.D., director of the Knight Cancer Institute, has likened to the Michael Jordan of cancer research. Dr. Gray comes to OHSU from the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, where he co-leads the Stand Up to Cancer’s “Breast Cancer Dream Team.” He is known internationally for developing tests that map genetic material in cancer cells and for using computer models to predict how treatments will work in attacking these cells.
Dr. Gray will join OHSU as head of the new multidisciplinary Center for Spatial Systems Biomedicine and as chair of the Department of Biomedical Engineering. Dr. Gray was brought to OHSU as part of the Knight’s strategic initiative to develop more personalized treatments for cancer patients.
Read the news release about Dr. Gray, Dr. Druker’s letter to the Knight Cancer Institute on the Knight News blog, or a letter from Mark Richardson, MD, MScB, MBA, Dean of the School of Medicine.
