Multiple opportunities from the American Lung Association
The American Lung Association seeks applicants for several seed funding and training opportunities with an October 21, 2010 deadline. Grants offered include:
- Social-Behavioral Research Grants ($40,000 per year for two years) – Provides seed money to investigators working on epidemiological and behavioral studies examining risk factors affecting lung health. This grant specifically includes studies concerning the ethical, legal, and economic aspects of health services and policies. || Eligibility: Applicant must hold a doctoral degree, be assured of a faculty appointment with demonstrated institutional commitment, and have completed two years of post-doctoral research training.
- Biomedical Research Grants ($40,000 per year for two years) – Provides seed money to investigators researching the mechanisms of lung disease and general lung biology. || Eligibility: Applicant must hold a doctoral degree, be assured of a faculty appointment with demonstrated institutional commitment, and have completed two years of post-doctoral research training.
- Lung Health Dissertation Grants ($21,000 per year for two years) – For pre-doctoral support for students with an academic career focus and/or nurses pursuing a doctoral degree. Research areas of particular interest are: psychosocial, behavioral, health services, health policy, epidemiological, biostatistical and educational matters related to disease. || Eligibility: Applicant must be a matriculating student in good standing in a full-time academic program leading to a doctoral degree. Individuals with an MD degree who wish to acquire a PhD are not eligible. However, nurses pursuing a doctoral degree in any field are eligible.
