New videos from NIH explain the peer review process
Ever wonder what an NIH peer review meeting actually looks like? What about the biggest mistake a new investigator can make? Or what makes a strong grant proposal? The NIH’s Center for Scientific Review (CSR) just released two new videos to show new applicants how NIH assesses over 80,000 grant applications per year.
“The video provides an inside look at the dynamic way reviewers evaluate NIH grant applications,” says CSR Director Dr. Toni Scarpa. “You’ll see the rigor and integrity of their efforts, which have enabled NIH to identify ground-breaking research year after year.”
Both videos incorporate many of the recent enhancements to the NIH peer review and grants systems. According to the NIH, they replace a similar CSR video that has been viewed by thousands online and used by hundreds of research institutions to train and educate new and established researchers.
