Multiple funding opportunities from American Heart Association
The American Heart Association (AHA) Pacific Mountain has several fellowship and grant opportunities available for scientists of all career levels conducting heart-related research in the Pacific Northwest. Proposed research can be broadly related to cardiovascular function, disease and stroke, or to related clinical, basic science, bioengineering or biotechnology, and public health problems. The following opportunities are due July 30, 2010:
- Predoctoral Fellowship – To help graduate students initiate careers in cardiovascular and stroke research by providing research assistance and training. || Amount: $20,772 stipend, health insurance, supplementary research and training funds for one to three years. || Eligibility: Applicants must be post baccalaureate, predoctoral students seeking research training with a sponsor/mentor prior to embarking on a research career.
- Postdoctoral Fellowship – To help trainees initiate careers in cardiovascular and stroke research while obtaining significant research results under the supervision of a sponsor or mentor; supports individuals before they are ready for some stage of independent research. || Amount: Varies – See full announcement. || Eligibility: Applicants must have an M.D., Ph.D., D.O., D.V.M. or equivalent degree at the time of award activation.
- Beginning Grant-in-Aid – To promote the independent status of promising beginning scientists. Proposals are encouraged from all basic disciplines as well as epidemiological, behavioral, community and clinical investigations that bear on cardiovascular and stroke problems. || Amount: $66,000 per year for two years. || Eligibility: Applicants must have an M.D., Ph.D., D.O., D.V.M. or equivalent initiating independent research career, and must have an assistant professor or equivalent faculty appointment at the time of activation.
- Grant-in-Aid – To encourage and adequately fund the most innovative and meritorious research projects from independent investigators. || Amount: $66,000 per year for two years. || Eligibility: Faculty or staff of any rank conducting independent research. Applicants must have an M.D., Ph.D., D.O., D.V.M. or equivalent.
