If you have an R01, you might be interested in a special competitive revision that allows you to utilize NCRR center resources, such as those from OCTRI and ONPRC, to expand the aims of your original application. The supplements are due April 21 (2 years of funding) and July 10 (1 year of funding), with maximum awards of $300,000 in direct costs–though some institutes and centers might have other restrictions that would limit what you could ask for from NCRR.
There are some specific requirements for these supplements. First, you must use the How To Apply PDF. You will also need to work with your program officer and the respective center. Finally–and this is different from most NIH applications–you must include the phrase “Enabling RPGs to Leverage NCRR Center and Center-like Programs” in two places (or else!):
• Include a Cover Letter and cite the Notice Number (NOT-OD-09-058) and the NCRR Notice title: Enabling RPGs to Leverage NCRR Center and Center-like Programs in the first sentence. If the title of this announcement is not included, NCRR will not consider the application.
• Explicitly cite the Notice Number (NOT-OD-09-058) and Notice Title: Enabling RPGs to Leverage NCRR Center and Center-like Programs in the first sentence of the Project Summary/Abstract Component of the application. If the title of this announcement is not included, NCRR will not consider the application.
You can use these funds for quite a number of initiatives, including the following:
• Training Opportunities
• Technology sharing
• Equipment sharing
• Outreach Projects
• Animal model development
• Study design support
• Computational modeling
• Clinical support
• Technology transfer support
• Translational research studies.
