Making X-Rays Less Scary for Kids

Yesterday, while preparing for an upcoming news story at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, a coworker and I tripped across something pretty neat.

Not every child likes getting an X-ray…it can be a downright scary thing. So to help kids relax, technicians at Doernbecher explain X-ray to kids by showing them what some of their toys look like on the inside.

So readers…here’s a quiz…can you name the following toys by looking at the X-ray images?

  1. I share the photos with the patients everytime I make a trip to the doernbecher pediatric xray dept! You should see them light up, even the smallest of patients!!

  4. I worked in Radiology for 4 years as a float PAS, and have to say the techs that work that department are the best!!! Tom and Misty make the experience what it is, and are the brains behind making patients and their families more comfortable!
