Doernbecher on a Sunny December Morning

One of Doernbecher's etched windows

OK. I’ll admit it. This is a bit of a random post…but also an interesting one I hope.

Early one morning, while walking through Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, I noticed one of the many amazing architectural touches in the building…one that literally brightens your day.

The tops of Doernbecher’s windows which face east and west are decorated with etchings…something you would not even notice on most days. But at certain hours on sunny mornings or evenings…these etchings cast the most amazing shadows in the hallways.

Since many of our patient families are up and around at all hours…a really nice touch by the designers.
