Transforming South Waterfront While Cleaning It Up
Following last month’s groundbreaking for the OUS/OHSU Collaborative Life Sciences Building in Portland’s South Waterfront, work is now underway.
Some of you may remember that years ago, the area was a shipyard where war vessels were built and stripped down.
Here’s what it looked like then:
Recently, construction crews unearthed a little history. See below.
It doesn’t look like much, but it’s a training grenade used in a grenade launcher circa 1953.
The good news…it’s not real. It is a dummy. Work was only delayed momentarily by the find.
While we can’t say we expected to find such items on the work side, we’re pleased to help clean up the area while building Portland’s new education sector.
