OHSU’s Sherman named one of ‘ 12 Oregonians Changing Our World’

We like to think that there are lot of OHSU-ers “changing the world.” But Portland Monthly magazine and the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry have made a point of calling out one OHSU scientist specifically — putting OHSU neuroscientist Larry Sherman on their list of “12 Oregonians Changing Our World.”

The list is an eclectic collection — from a winemaker to the developer of a battery-powered car to a children’s author. In its recent feature on the 12, Portland Monthly cited Sherman’s groundbreaking research into multiple sclerosis at the Oregon National Primate Research Center. It also cited a few other abilities — including playing the piano while thinking brainy things.

As part of the honor, Sherman will speak with two other honorees on Oct. 24 at the Baghdad Theater, 3702 S.E. Hawthorne Blvd. Doors open at 5 p.m. Program begins at 7 p.m.
