I agreed with this post. The cause of rate increasing of autism is people not understanding completely about autism. Autism awareness is most important for everyone to determine the causes of autism.

Hi Liza,

Deep brain stimulation is currently approved for Parkinson's disease and Essential Tremor. According to Dr. Burchiel, it's also likely to be approved for Epilepsy very soon.

Thanks for the great question! -Anne

Liza,

Dr. Peterson shared that epilepsy generally involves an alteration in consciousness, while Parkinson's patients are awake and alert when they experience their tremors.

Hope this is helpful! -Anne

How do you tell the difference between Parkinson Tremor's and hand shaking from epilepsy?

Thanks, Liza Castleberry

I was reading some of your articles and they are very interesting. I wonder if deep Brain Stimulation is an FDA appoved process and has it been used in epilepsy patients any? I just wanted to know what options are out there for myself, if the 2nd surgery for the VNS does not work? I am getting tired of taking a hanful of drugs each morning and night!

Thanks, Liza Castleberry, patient at OHSU.

Research has shown so far that physical activity can stave off and possibly reduce the risk of Alzheimer`s and also green tea has been in the media quite a alot lately. Also there is the potential of Neuronix and Brain Pacemaker`s. Hopefully we can find a treatment/cure much sooner than later!

I am particularly interested in how long recovery from a "mild" concussion may take, e.g. head pain.
