Research Interests
The focus of the research in my laboratory is the brain basis of human cognition, with a particular focus on the cognitive and neural changes that occur with aging. The majority of the work in my laboratory concerns the role of sex hormones as modulators of cognition, particularly during aging. Current projects investigate the role of hormones on emotional memory, the mechanisms for sex steroid effects in the brain, and the neurotoxic effects of prostate cancer testosterone deprivation treatments. The laboratory uses a variety of methods to observe brain changes and activity, including cognitive testing, structural and functional magnetic resonance imaging, and pharmacological manipulations.
