Department of Anesthesiology and Periopertive Medicine Regional Anesthesia, index

Welcome!

Welcome to Oregon Health & Science University Department of Anesthesiology and Peri-operative Medicine’s Regional Anesthesia Webpage.

As Regional Anesthesiologists our goal is to decrease our surgical patients’ pain, increase their satisfaction, aid rehabilitation and decrease length of stay through the use of regional anesthesia.

The Regional Anesthesia (RA) Team consists of 15 anesthesiologists, two residents on a continuous 1-month RA rotation and the preoperative team (nurses, one administrative assistant and anesthesia technicians) who focus on state of the art preventive care of acute surgical pain.   Multimodal pain treatment is the primary approach, wherein regional anesthesia both neuraxial and peripheral nerve blocks, plays a central role

We have a successful and innovative home-pump program in place in which patients undergoing appropriate out-patient procedures may go home with a home-pump for better pain control.

Our RA team also participates in resident and medical student teaching, a physician preceptorship program, and various research projects.
