and Regional Anesthesia Site
APOM Home Page
The Clinical Research in Pain and Regional Anesthesia Division is directed by Tonya Palermo, Ph.D., associate professor in Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine at OHSU. Dr. Palermo is a pediatric psychologist and is widely recognized for her innovative approach to evaluating and managing chronic pain in children and adolescents.

This division forges interdisciplinary partnerships among pediatric, adult, and regional pain specialists to foster and promote original clinical research that will enhance diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of acute and chronic pain across a full spectrum of age groups and conditions. Studies focus on the psychological aspects of pain, innovative methods to reduce pain and disability, and evaluation of new techniques in regional anesthesia that will improve patient outcomes.

The division complements and expands the ongoing efforts of OHSU’s Comprehensive Pain Center, Pediatric Pain Management Center, and regional anesthesia program. It also offers lectures, conferences, and mentoring opportunities for students and faculty.

Thank you for stopping by to learn about our team of clinician scientists and their innovative research in pain management. Please send any questions and comments to Dr. Tonya Palermo.
