In October 2007, Jia Jia
traveled to the United States as a Visiting Research
Scholar and joined the basic science research team
in the Department of Anesthesiology and Peri-Operative
Medicine (APOM). Over the next two years, she will
focus her investigations on the mechanisms of action
and intracellular signaling pathways that mediate
the protective effects of the neuropeptide CART
against brain damage following ischemic stroke.
Jia Jia earned the Bachelor of Science in biology
from Jinan University in China in 2004. She is
currently a doctoral student at Nanjing University
in Jiangsu, China and is co-mentored by Drs. Yun Xu
and Zichun Hua (Nanjing University) and by Dr. Nabil
Alkayed (APOM).
In addition to her professional pursuits, Jia Jia
enjoys music, swimming, reading, and travel.
