Jeffrey Iliff
is a graduate student at Oregon Health & Science
University. In June 2006, he joined the Research
Division of the Department of Anesthesiology and
Peri-Operative Medicine to study the role of certain
lipid metabolites, known as EETs, and their
metabolic enzyme, soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH),
in the crosstalk between neurons and blood vessels.
More specifically, Jeff will examine the effect of
sEH in regulating cerebral blood flow in response to
ischemia and other physiological changes in neuronal
activity. This work may have implications for such
diseases as stroke, vasospasm, and migraine.
In 2001, Jeff
completed the Bachelor of Science in Zoology at the
University of Washington. He began doctoral studies
in the Program in Molecular and Cellular Biosciences
at OHSU in the fall of 2005. When he is not in the
lab, he enjoys family time with his wife and three
children. He also likes to sail, hike, and search
for old books at used bookstores. |
