Thee Wendell C. Stevens, M.D., Endowment Fund was established in 2005 in honor of Dr. Stevens, a distinguished past chair of the OHSU Department of Anesthesiology and a beloved humanitarian. The endowment provides third-year residents with the opportunity to participate in international medical missions. Thanks to the generous support of the fund, five third-year residents over the past three years have had the opportunity to provide anesthesia assistance on medical missions in South America. This experience allows them to touch the lives of people across the globe while stretching their medical knowledge. As one of the only anesthesiology residencies in the U.S. to provide this opportunity, the OHSU Department of Anesthesiology and Peri-Operative Medicine hopes to expand this program to all third-year residents.
