During the demonstration phase of the Oregon Health Workforce Project, physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, dentists, and dental hygienists licensed in Oregon were surveyed by mail to gather baseline data regarding demographics, educational background, practice characteristics, workload, job satisfaction, and future career plans. Results were published in a series of descriptive reports that provide a detailed profile of the health professionals surveyed.

A second survey was conducted in 2002. A seventh discipline-pharmacy-was added to the six groups of health professionals originally surveyed in 2000. Results of the pharmacist survey were published in December 2002. Reports for the remaining six groups of health professionals will be published throughout the first half of 2003.
