Margaret "Meg" Hayes, MD
Adoption Health Services Medical Director
Family Physician and Adoption Medicine Specialist

Margaret 'Meg' Hayes, MD, OHSU FM Adoption Health Services Specialist Dr. Hayes is the medical director for OHSU Adoption Health Services. She is a family physician, specializing in adoption health services. .

Dr. Hayes received her medical degree from Oregon Health & Science University in 1994. She did her residency at OHSU and also served as Chief Resident.

She is an Assistant Professor in OHSU Family Medicine. She served as the Medical Director for OHSU Family Medicine's Marquam Hill and Scappoose Clinics. Her practice includes the full spectrum of family medicine including international medicine and maternity and childcare. Dr. Hayes is actively involved in research in areas of adoption medicine, integrative medicine, motivating change for improved health outcomes and the treatment of substance abuse.

Dr. Hayes possesses broad skills in areas of Family Medicine that support her work in Adoption Medicine including infant, early child and adolescent development, prenatal and obstetric care, and addiction medicine.

She has traveled throughout China, Central Asia, Central and South America and is familiar with orphanage conditions in these areas.

Dr. Hayes' expertise in addiction medicine, prenatal and obstetric care also provides a strong foundation for the medical support of domestic adoptions.

Mary Masterson, MPH, MPA
Adoption Health Services Program Manager

Mary Masterson, MPH, MPA, OHSU FM Adoption Health Services Coordinator Ms. Masterson is the creator and program manager for the OHSU Adoption Health Services program that was established in early 2006. She has first-hand experience with the adoption process as an adult Korean adoptee and adoptive mother of two Chinese daughters. .

Ms. Masterson received her dual-master degrees in Public Health and Public Administration from Portland State University in 1996. She received her bachelor’s in dental hygiene from OHSU in 1978.

She holds a faculty appointment of Instructor in the Department of Family Medicine. She assisted the Department with the planning and implementation of its videoconferencing systems. She has been an information technology consultant for several of the department’s grants and provided database and website expertise for the Oregon Rural Practice-based Research Network (ORPRN).

She is also assisting the department with several clinic-based quality improvement projects.

Her professional interests include adoption research and utilization of information technology for research and education.

Her personal interests include photography, community service, participating in adult adoptee and adoption group activities, working on the computer, and spending time with her family.
