SICU

Residents are responsible for the day-to-day care of all trauma patients in the ICU under the supervision of the trauma chief resident and the faculty. Residents are also responsible for co-management of surgery service patients who reside in the ICU for greater than 24 hours. On this rotation residents develop the ability to rapidly assess severely injured trauma patients in the Emergency Department. They also learn to perform competently central line placement, Swann-Ganz placement, chest tube placement and arterial line placement.
