Graduated with an MD and MPH from Emory University. Sharon’s research is on prevalence and predictors of chlamydia and gc infection in the state of Georgia. She was her med school class treasurer for four years and co-led the OBGYN interest group. She is fluent in French, having lived in France for two summers.
Graduated from UC Irvine and served on the school’s admissions and curriculum committees, and while in med school did research on cognitive function during the transition through menopause.
|Lisa Goldthwaite||Graduated with an MD from OHSU. She serves as chair of the board of directors of the nonprofit Community Resource Initiative that works to improve the quality of defense in capital cases and provides services to families affected by capital punishment. She lived and studied in Belgium for a year as a Rotary International Exchange Student, and spent several months in Cape Town, South Africa doing research on teens and HIV. At OHSU Lisa was a regional coordinator for Medical Students for Choice and a Dean’s Advisor.|
|Krissy Roesen||Graduated with an MD from University of Washington. She was an office assistant at the UW employee health clinic and then became a clinical research coordinator in the department of anesthesiology at UW prior to medical school. She received the Elvins Scholarship, a merit-based scholarship for women students intending a career in OBGYN, and served on the clerkship committee and in the youth tutoring program at UW. She co-led the OBGYN interest group and the UW AMWA chapter. She is working on a research project investigating barriers to postpartum IUD use.|
|Pamela "PAR" Royer||Graduated with an MD from University of Utah. She is cofounder and exec board member of Global Soul International, a nonprofit that works for community empowerment in underdeveloped nations. She was student president of Science Power, a group that provides mentoring in math and science for middle school girls. She has made clinical and research-related trips to Peru and Ghana during med school, and served as her class’ representative to the student council, as well as the student body political liason to the state legislature.|
|Katie Simmons||Graduated with an MD from U Mich Ann Arbor. She took her premedical coursework at Northwestern U where she was a project coordinator for clinical drug trials and a research assistant with the Northwestern University Brain Mapping Group, and also served as deputy registrar for the Chicago Board of Elections, recruiting and registering voters for the 2004 presidential election. At U Mich Katie was the coordinator for Medical Student for Choice and did a MSFC reproductive health externship at Fayetteville Womens’ Clinic in Arkansas.|
Graduated with an MD from the University of Washington. Prior to medical school she worked as a CNA at a skilled nursing facility and as a research assistant in neuroscience at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. At UW Weiya tutored in gross anatomy, founded the surgery interest group, and represented her class on the curriculum and professionalism committees. She is interested in gynecologic oncology, and has done research on wound breakdown in resected recurrent vulvar cancer in radiated vs nonirradiated fields.
