Research Assistent I - position has been filled

Our lab focuses on the development of the peripheral nervous system in zebrafish. The Research Assistant will oversee daily operations of a 1,000 tank zebrafish facility. Primary responsibilities consist of facility and systems maintenance, feeding adult and larval zebrafish, accurate documentation, dealing with system repair issues, in consultation with the PI. The position requires accurate facility record keeping, coordination with veterinary staff for regular health inspections, tracking of supply inventory/pricing.

Required Qualifications include: Bachelor's Degree or higher; with 1 year experience in a research laboratory; Microsoft Office Suite; Internet; experience with zebrafish husbandry and use as a research model; aquatic facility maintenance experience; ability to lift 20 lbs; independent problem solving skills; reliability; motivation; high organizational skills (including data management); excellent interpersonal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications include: prior experience with marine biology research; aquatics systems maintenance; and background in genetics. Special Work Schedule Requirements may involve rotating on call emergency contact.
