The Center for Diversity and Multicultural Affairs in collaboration with the Schools of Dentistry, Medicine, and Nursing, OGI School of Science & Engineering, Allied Health programs, and College of Pharmacy (joint program with OSU) invite college students interested in pursuing a career in health care and science professions to attend our educational and interactive conference.

Conference objectives:

1. Encourage historically underrepresented population to enter the health and science professions.
   
2. Provide students with insight on health care and science professions in medicine, nursing, dentistry, allied health, engineering, biomedical research, dietetics & nutrition, and pharmacy.
   
3. Provide admission processes and other relevant information.
4. Introduce students to OHSU educational programs, faculty, facilities and resources.
   
5. Promote bicultural/bilingual prospective health and science providers.
   

Health care is undoubtedly one of the most important frontiers where science and technology can make a critically important difference to all people. The rapid advances in the hi-tech areas open new ways for technology to support health care. Whereas traditional bioengineering areas are very important, recent scientific and technological advances in computational neuroscience, tissue engineering, sensor technology, molecular biology, functional genomics, biomaterials, biological and medical informatics together with the pioneering spirit of Oregon will enable us to define a unique bioengineering program to support future clinical medicine and healthcare delivery.

The Center for Diversity and Multicultural Affairs invites all in state and out of state undergraduate, post-baccalaureate and graduate students interested in pursuing a career in healthcare, science and engineering to attend our 8th Annual OHSU Multicultural Health, Science & Engineering Career Conference on Friday, April 18, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. located at OHSU, Portland, Oregon.
