![]() Oregon Health & Science University’s (OHSU) Center of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs proudly announces a summer enrichment program for undergraduate college students interested in health and science careers. The program serves to identify and nurture college students and to prepare them to meet the needs of the underserved ethnic communities. Students will have an opportunity to explore health care and science professions while gaining hands-on medical and science experience at OHSU. Emphasis will be placed on current health care and science practices, awareness of current minority health issues, and steps to increase competitiveness for professional and graduate schools and programs offered at OHSU. Program Description Healthcare Adventures in Medicine and Science (HAMS) is a one week summer enrichment program. This competitive program will offer students an opportunity to experience adventurous opportunities in the healthcare and science industry. Selected students will have opportunities to meet with health care and science professionals and attend classes similar to those taught at OHSU’s professional and graduate programs. Classes and workshops will emphasize on competitiveness, application, interview, and academic preparation for a career in Health Science. There is no cost to participate in the HAMS program. However, students must provide for their own meals and transportation to and from OHSU campus. · College undergraduates and must have a strong interest and background in health and science professions. · Students must have a track record in serving disadvantaged and underrepresented ethnic groups and communities. Preference will be given to residents of Oregon. · Students must complete application forms, one-page essay stating future goals, and a recommendation letter from an academic advisor and/or instructor.
